2006 Humber Chapter Summer Bible Retreat Report

God blessed us to hold a Summer Bible Retreat from July 21-23, at Ganarasaka camp, a beautiful place located northern east of Toronto.
Six missionaries, four second gen., two students and 3 guests came to the Bible Retreat. The theme was “To know Jesus, the gift of God personally”; there were 3 lectures, Lecture 1 “Jesus the gift of God” (John 4) by S. Joshua Brinkerhoff; Lecture 2 “I want to know Christ.” (Philip. 3) by m. Paulus Cha; Lecture 3 “Follow Me” (Mk 2) by M. Isaac Lee.
At first, we were not sure how to prepare or what to do, since it was first time, but at the same time, we know what should be the summer Bible conference in a traditional way. And we did not have much resource to prepare in a traditional way, and were little bit discouraged. But when we were praying to get God’s wisdom, God helped us to have Bible retreat, short, and relaxed way and through which we could renew our personal faith and decision and have deep fellowship with our Lord Jesus and with each other.
Our 2nd gen. prepared Bible jeopardy and music program. North York music band offered wonderful music and singsperation and brightened our environment. We were also encouraged by ‘great man and women of God’ symposium reported by Mary Cha, Bora Lee and Sarah Cha. We also heard Montreal chapters’ mission report reported by S. Connie Jumeau and prayed for Montreal ministry and for Canadian mission and for world mission. Then there was ‘a short movie’ presentation based on Jn 4:1-26, produced by M. Rebekah S. Lee.
At the last day, we had a wagon riding and we all enjoyed fresh air and God’s wonderful creation in an open field and bush.
We thank God for giving us a time to renew our faith and vision and hope through our Bible retreat. Just like Andrew brought ‘5 loaves and 2 fish’ from a child, we offered ‘5 loves and 2 fish’ to Jesus. By faith, we borrowed from other chapters and offered them to our Lord Jesus. Thank Jesus who accepts each of us as 5 loaves and 2 fish to serve God and his flock in Humber. God strengthened us with hope and vision as we repented and renewed our faith in God. We could rejoice in God’s grace, and made decision to work hard and bring many young students.
We thank God for our guests who came to support us. S. Joshua Brinkerhoff from Ottawa and S. Connie Jumeau from Montreal and 2nd gen, music band from North York. Thank God for each Canadian chapter who pray and support to build up the work of God for Canada to be a kingdom of priest.
May God bless us to raise up 1 Abraham and 1 Sarah of faith in Humber Campus.
