French-speaking Conference 2006        Nantes, 22/08/06


THE HOPE OF GOD

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade-kept in heaven for you.” 1 Peter 1:3-4

I thank God who blessed the French-speaking Summer Bible Conference 2006, August 10-13, in “Massabiel”, in the suburb of Paris, with 90 people! Four French-speaking countries have could take part and serve this conference: France, Belgium, Switzerland and Canada. The topic was: "The Hope of God". Nowadays, youth does not have any more hope. The riots in France last autumn and the protest strike of students at the beginning of this year testify to the despair of young French. We thus have had in heart to pray that the young French and French-speaking people find the hope in their life, the hope in God.

First, a work of collaboration and prayer. Before the conference, Misn. Marc Choi invited all the French-speaking directors and France directors, and some missionaries and shepherds from Paris to have 2 days prayer meeting to pray together for the Summer conference. We thus met 2 times in Paris in July and May in order to pray by mutual agreement and decide the best program for the conference. By this common prayer, we could share the same vision and the same heart for this conference. We all were eager to see God bless this conference and carrying out His work in the heart of the students. We prayed that each co-worker could be an actor during this conference. God blessed our prayer and our collaboration by giving to each one a very ready heart to achieve his task and to serve this conference in small thing: environment, translation, service of the sheep, reception of the guests… By this collaboration, God prepared a good environment so that all can receive the word of God.

Secondly, the work of the word of God. Since the first prayer meeting, we were convinced of the need for studying the message of the cross during this conference, with a clear vision and prayer topic: "That by the message of the cross, we see young French-speaking people accepting Jesus like their personal Saviour.” We also prayed to God grants us words to help the young disciples who grow in faith to entirely give their heart and their life to God and campus mission. God establishes 11 messengers: “The Parabole of the Sower" (Lc 8 - Walter Nett, Cologne), "Creator God" (Gn 1 - Josué Lee, Brussels), "He will not break the ruffled reed" (Mc 12 - Max Bykadorov, Brussels), "Jesus came to call sinners" (Mc - Beatrice CLIO, Paris), "You Give them something to eat" (Jn 6 - Philip Wong, Montreal), "You will be a fisher of men" (Luc 5, Livar Lepik - Paris), "My God, my God, why have you forsake me?" (Mc 15, Bruno Aussant - Nantes), "Do you love me?" (Jn 21, Eric Nicolle - Paris), "A living hope" (1P 1, Lydie Lee - Paris), "Our Father" (Lc 11, Abraham Koo - Descartes City), Closing Address (Dr. Jun John, Chicago). Several students present during the conference testified to have received the grace by the word of God. Brother Fabien (Paris) shared his life testimony and confessed his desire to know God more deeply and personally and to obey his will. He also took part in the drama prepared by the co-workers of Paris. Sister Noémie (Geneva) also shared her testimony and prays to know the will of God to serve the campus mission. Brother Max (Brussels) confessed his desire to live a more committed life for God by offering his marriage to God and while collaborating with the ministry of Brussels. Brother Samuel (Paris) confessed his lack of engagement to serve God and prayed to become a fisher of men. In the same way, after having listened the message of the cross, a Chinese student testified: "I believe in God! It is the first time that I say that I believe in God. But by seeing how Jesus died on the cross, I am obliged to believe that God exists "

Third, a work of prayer support. Several co-workers came to support this conference by prayer. Dr. John JUN trained all the messengers, sometimes even late the evening or very early the morning, in collaboration with Misn. Caleb Hong. God blessed their prayer and their servant’s heart for this conference by giving a personal word to each messenger. Several co-workers also came from Korea (Songdon: Moses Lee / Chonro 7: Paul Na, Anna Na / Kyung-Sung: Lydia Kim, A-ra Cho), Germany (Cologne: Walter Nett, Winnel Nett, P. Abraham Lee, Ulrike Gross, Elisabeth Keller, Esther Nett, Prisca Lee, Eunhe Na, Catherine / Bonn: Peter Jung, Happy Maria, Joachim Dietzel, Gloria / Heidelberg: Caleb Hong, Markus Abel, Namsuk Lee, Peter Park), USA (Chicago: Joseph Han Jr / Mineapolis: Rebekah Kim / New Jersey: John Park Jr). By their supports of prayer and their presence, this conference was fully blessed.

Fourth, active collaboration and service of the second generation. Several "second generation" were attending this conference. They served this conference with all their heart. Elisabeth Keller (Cologne) and Luc Hong Jr (Montreal) shared their life testimonies. We were moved to listen to their sincere fight to have an independent and personal faith, and their desire to serve the campus mission. The second generation of Paris presented a mime drama on the cure of the paralytic (Marc 2). They were very eager to serve the conference with this drama and were involved several days to offer a very funny and moving drama. Several "second generation" also served the conference with their talents. John Park Jr (New Jersey) presented a violin special music with so much of energy that somebody said: "I believed that he was going to break his violin". Rebekah Kim (Minessota) presented a modern solo  dance on a Christian song entitled: "Thank you". All the participants were moved by his grace. The second generation of Paris and Brussels also presented several special musics. David Choi (Paris) served the conference as the person in charge of computers. He worked enormously, day and night, to serve this task, as well as the translation of the messages in English. By the engagement of the second generation, we all were fully encouraged and filled of vision. We believe that they will be sources of blessing for their generation and good co-workers for the campus mission.

Fifth, the work of the word of God in my heart. Normally, I was to preach the message of Marc 2: "Jesus came to call sinners". But a few times before the conference, Misn. Marc Choi called me and said me: "There is a change in the program. You preach the message of the cross." I felt a little difficult to preach this message because I knew that it is a message difficult to prepare and to preach. I prepared the message, but I depended still too much on my human ability with good speech instead of entering the depth of the word. I preached with my mouth, but not with my heart. During the conference, I received the training from Misn Marc Choi and Dr. John JUN and Misn Caleb Hong. Through this training, I repented to depend of my human capacities and I started to pray to depend on God alone. The word of the cross finally touched my heart and I repented my sins in front of the cross of Jesus. A long time I thought that my sins came from the external events, but through this word, I accepted again that my sins came from my interior. I confessed my spirit of anger, which made me an enemy of God. I again accepted the forgiveness of my sins by the cross of Jesus, and God covered me with his Holy Spirit. 

I thanks God who blessed this conference abundantly. May God help us to share with French-speaking students the grace and the word of God we received during this conference, at the new school year 2006/2007. Amen!
