M. Sarah Yoo’s Burial Service
Dr. David Lee
For God so loved the world
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16)
I thank and praise God who is the Creator and the Almighty who deserves our eternal praise and honor forever. I thank God who is our everlasting Father, Wonderful Counselor, and the King of Peace. Our life is meaningful and glorious because God created us in his own image. Today, we gather here to commemorate for M. Sarah Yoo who was called and believed in Jesus and received eternal life in the kingdom of heaven.
First, God so loved the world. God showed the full extent of his love by sending his one and only Son Jesus as the Christ Savior of the world. His Son Jesus suffered and died on the cross, shedding his holy blood. Jesus was crucified and died in order to forgive our sins just as prophesied in the Old Testament. In this way, God fulfilled the promise to save us from sin and eternal punishment.
Second, whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God promised to save people though his Son Jesus. God’s promise is for all people on the earth. Salvation comes through faith in Jesus. Believe in Jesus means to put complete trust in him no matter what. To trust in Jesus fully, we must be humble before God. When we are humble before God, God opens our spiritual eyes to find ourselves as nothing but sinners. We cannot trust human beings including ourselves. But there is the One whom we can fully trust. He is Jesus Christ the Lord whom God sent from heaven above. God honors those who trust in him with eternal life. Jesus promised to his disciples in John 14:1-4, “1"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God[a]; trust also in me. 2In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4You know the way to the place where I am going."
Therefore, those who are called and believed in Jesus are the most blessed because they inherit eternal life in his kingdom. M. Sarah Yoo accepted Gods’ high calling in her junior year of the Armed Forces Nurse Academy. M. Sarah listened the voice of Jesus calling, “Follow me, I will make you fishers of men (Mt 4:19).” Then she followed Jesus by obeying his words. She fully trusted in Jesus by feeding campus students with words of truth. She fought the good fight because she trusted in Jesus and the words of promise. I believe that M. Sarah Yoo received the crown of life in the kingdom of God. God took her to his eternal kingdom in his own time. May God bless M. Joshua Yoo and two children, John and Hannah that they may also trust in Jesus fully and inherit eternal life. May God bless each of us here to fully trust in Jesus and inherit eternal life in the kingdom of heaven. Amen.
